Dubai is building a fast metro system. It will not only be state of the art but the path is built in a way rather than just commute people but to give them a tour of the main touristic locations through some over ground locations. Kinda f advertising your own city and its attractions. The digging has already started and the marks are visible all over dubai.

You can see the sand piles at the side of the road at the bottom of this photo.

I can post from flickr again. Blogger.com has placed my blog on their spam generator list. I don't how and why but they did and they didnt inform me of that. So blogging for me was an easy experience where I have to go through different things to accomplish a single blog.
But in the end I sorted it.

Glad to be back

One week in Dubai and I am so glad to be back. I used to love Dubai. Shopping heaven, fast internet, clean roads, cheap car rentals, and above all exposure to so many new electronics at cheap prices. I spent 6 days in Dubai and missed all of the above.
I am starting to feel more belonging to Kuwait with all the things I hate in it. I think the stuff I love in it are overshadowing the bad stuff.

I had a 2mb line in my hotel but flickr was closed :(
photosig was closed.
I got upgraded to a 3 bed room suite. Thats the bright side. The dark side is; The internet connection was wired and it was in the livign room only. So no bed time internet :(
The malls are all on special promotions but the traffic is too much to go anywhere. I finish my meetings at 7:00, add 2 hours to get to the hotel. and 1 hour to get to the mall :(

I am back home. 1:30 am in the morning and blogging from the comfort of my bed and the warmth of my wife's hug and before I forget the whining of my dog who missed me and doesnt understand why I am not spending my night next to him in his room.

Its been 3 nights and Miki has been sleeping. By the power of the black glove. He hates it. Its enough to hang it next to his room and his sleeps. I think he gets nightmares all night long about the black glove but still he managed to sleep. So 3 nights in a row and we are sleeping. Case closed.
Now we need to solve the ever lasting peeing issue. He loves to pee around anywhere in the house. Specifically the middle of the living room or anywhere clean and has no smell of him.

All Mini Pins like my dog have their ears standing up like dobbermens. I didn't know if the process happens by itself or its actually done through cutting the ears or something. Last week I noticed a change in one of the ears of Miki, the right ear, and now the left one is following it. Today the right ear was up for a while then it went down again. It's a matter of time before both ears are up straight.
PS: He and I didn't sleep last night :(

Today was ammazing, I actually managed to sleep last night for like 11 pm to 9:30 am
with one interruption only from the dog. Exhausting him worked, he slept and was so tired to move his ass or cry or whine or bark.
Congratulations to me.

I slept.

Step 2: We need to repeat the events of last night again so I manage to recollect my life, this dog is not in my schedule and I deserve to rest in the weekend after a week of work.
The Cats however are taking full advantage of my lack of sleeping and the fact that I am not using my bike for nearly 1 month now and thy love the area under the cover. Their pissing and dirt is all I have and I am not surprised to find a cat giving birth there.

I just bought 3 books about Mini Pinschers. I will read them and even buy more books hoping that I will understand how to make my dog sleep at night.
People I neeeeeeeeeeeed to sleeep for 7 hours per night, is that too much to ask??

Leo Burnette have cool hallways between their offices; bean bags and some nice lively colors. Today I woke to realize I had a good view and the pool had two good looking ladies doing some laps across. But damn I thought they will do 5 or 10 minutes but i went to shower and got out, got dressed and got ready to leave and they were still doing laps, thats like 40 minutes from the time I woke till the time I leave my room. I came back to my room at 7:00 pm but surprisingly they have left by then !!!

I am watching the same movie, It's called "sleepless in Salwa" Mark is watching "sleepless in Salmiya" both are a twist from "sleepless in Seattle"

My dog, the needy mofo, won't sleep if we are not around him and he wants to sleep in bed and cuddle under my arm, worked for a week, but he has the bell around his neck so this is one week of no sleeping for me or my wife.
My latest trick, Miki doesnt make sound if he knows we are out of the house, so yesterday night, i went to the door, opened it, said bye and closed the door and stayed still. After 10 minutes I heard his bell while he is going to bed, 5 minutes later, no more bell. then i sneaked to bed and there was no noise till 6:00 am, kinda of a new record.
My wife went to work at 9:00 and I was still in bed and he thought everyone left, so he was quite untill i woke up at 1:00. A new record, I slept for 10 hours so far, its more than the whole week.

Food: he is eating chicken wings, he lovvvvvvves them, I was giving him the wing cut in pieces but now he loves a full wing, and he makes his way through the bones and the meat and he always leaves a small bone after he finishes, don't know why, but he keeps the same bone and cut almost the same, kinda of a trade mark I think.

I hope the experiment works again tonight, or else I am going to loose my brains.

Meet Miki, our guard dog.
He is a mini Pincher and is 20 cm long, in 1 year he will grow to almost 30 cm and can really give mice and flies a hard time, and will surely prevent some cockroaches from invading our privacy.

Noon Time: Ride from Second Cup @ Galleria 2000 to Abdali Farms.
Night Time: Ride from Abdalli farms to Iraq border and then back to Kuwait city.

Poor guy he flew like 1.5M off the ground and landed. I don't think he would do it again for a Million Dollars.

So am back from Beirut, 3 days of fun I can say. Weather however beat me badly, it was grey, cloudy, and hot. There was no snow in any visible area and the whole place was greeeeeeeeeey. I took this shot on the way back, its one of the north Lebanon peaks and since its over 2000 m, its got some snow. The only snow I could see was from 5000 m over Lebanon.

I did my first long ride today. 8:00 am all the way to wafra and back. Yeep burnt around 300 km today on the bike along with sometimes few and sometimes many other riders. 11:30 I was back to Radisson SAS and we took a slow ride all the way on gulf road to Shweikh and returned to park the bikes in Marina Mall and had lunch.
What a day, 120 KM/hr on the open roads and in freezing morning cold, what a feelin. Now the bad side is, I need to wash the bike and my wrists hurt like hell, I mean they hurt, pain, pain, I'd better stop typing ......

I guess you noticed, I changed the look of my blog and stopped the domain forwarding. So in 1 or 2 days, you can't come here using www.fadibou.com.

I mean what were the advertising awards in Kuwait about, we rarely see on the roads anything worth looking at. This for me is advertising at its best, although its a small cut of the real ad, the text in dutch says" The NEW BMW K 1200R, NO MERCY" and it shows the heads of the competition of the bike on the wall hanging as trophies, it makes you want to buy this bike and wonder what's it all about. I hope one day we will see some creativity from the ad agencies in the region and the understanding and maturity from the clients to accept new ideas.

I took a similar shot last year almost the same time and it was good weather too, we are blessed with this great weather for the past days and its so nice to see blue skies and no clouds at all. What is truly amazing is the effect of good weather. It makes you want to work more and be a bit happier than normal. It has had a great effect and inspite of the tough things I face day after day, it seems to give me joy to just look up to the sky and say thank you, to the one, who is giving us those dustless, cloudless blue skies.

I went and watched the movie tonight in Al Fanar with two things in mind; testing the new revamped Kuwait cinema thingi and the movie.
Movie review: Almost true to the game but evolved to giving more details about the story. Half the weapons appear and half the mosnters but not all of them, I think they left the rest to part 2. The rock is good actor as well as the rest of the cast.
Part II: The Cinema.
Well it suscks like no other damn possible way and today my friends and fellow bloggers was my official last day to those crazy movie spoiling freaks.
They edit every movie to make it fit into and 90 minute slot and thus terribly cutting some scenes that might be esssential to the story. In doom they did cut recklessly scenes left and right to ruin the movie and in the end we got 90 minutes exactly of it.
And then the ammazing rule. Families sit in the back, single in the front, so since I went with a male friend to watch the movie, they stuck us in the front seat while 3/4 of the theater was empty. What a mess and what a waste of money and after 90 minutes you need a doctor's visit to fix the neck pain.
KNCC, Cinescape or whatever you want to call it is the worst experience in my life. They can got to DOOOOOOOOOM with their theaters, laws and above it all the useless editing of the movies. Pirated DVDs come also at the same time of the lunch, and I wonder why people prefer them!!!

Went out today with the HOGs of Kuwait. HOG = Harley Owners Group. It was all great appart from my wife being sick from the morning and feeling dizzy all day long. The star of the day was this bike with its great customizations, heard it costs 2000 KD extra to beef up a normal bike to look this good. After lunch we had a sale on old and used bike parts and accessories. Bought a couple of stuff that can help me start my own bike beefing.

Part of my tour yesterday was to visit the pigeons next to my office. I spent 40 minutes around them and I realized that every 15 or 20 minutes someone passes and feeds them. It varies as some throw them bird food and some throw them rice. But this guy came and stood and they seem to know him, they gathered around him before he even started feeding them. It was an ammazing sight.

My wife got called to work yesterday at 3:00, 2 hours after her official signoff :(
It was sad to drive back to Kuwait city and wait for her for 1 hour in the car but I took the opp to go snap some different shots of Kuwait and here you are: Low tide, clear skies, sunset time and Kuwait city skyline. I think this will change a lot in the next 6 months so I hope to get a different shot from the same place with more towers.

Ka3ek Ka3euk. For those who have been to beirut, Ka3ek is so famous down there. Its bloody dirty and collects the fumes from the exhausts of cars all day long, they put supposedly zaatar in it but what you get is simmak with hamoud al Laymoun and sometimes they put picon but they charge 1500 LL for it. I am so starving I even want Ka3ek. Is there anyone in Kuwait who sells Ka3euk ???

19 months ago I quit Dubai. Almost everyone knows this by now. But this week I took a shot of a place which was a simple desert when I left. It was empty, not a stone was there. Now its the scene of 181 new tower of which more than 60 have been ereceted and more than 10 have been completed. My Dubai experience has been shifted somehow in the past week. In a summary; New building and a lot of them, road construction everwhere, traffic of at least 1 hour per trip to anywhere, petrol double that of Kuwait, retaurents who charge 600 dhs for a meal for 3 (600 dhs = 48 kd) and more to that, no place to dine in the evening without reservation, verbally no place. But inspite of all that, you can feel a city rising in the desert to become the brightest in the world. The infra and construction projects will catapult it to compete with other great cities in everything except age. One last word; I don't think low or medium income people can survive in Dubai, its too expensive and too tempting.
Kuwait, I am loving it.

I could not resist this shot, I was driving and I stopped the car, the area was full of high voltage poles so I couldn't have got a better shot. I took it on a day where it was full moon. I don't know if its related but the sun looked so large when I took this shot and it was going down at an unusual speed. Perhaps its just an illusion, I don't know.

I have spent 16 months in Kuwait and guess what!! I never saw low tide, till last week. I went to Kempinski hotel for the usual friday swim and about 2:20 water started going down. It went down so fast it was ammazing. The shot I have posted is of the stones that are used to anchor the jetskis. Usually those stones are like 1.5m under water level.

I went to shaab park today and saw this game. It struck me straight away that it looks the good old game of Donkey Kong. In fact on other prespectives, its exactly the same interface. After that I went to watch Daisy Dukes. Dukes of Hazard has to be one of my fave movies of the year. It's been 23 years since my last yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeha and General Lee jumping around and flyinnnn. The actor fit the roles and the movie is so very true to the series. Good laughs, great chase scenes and above all, Double D initials of Daisy Dukes. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehaaa.

I love this wallpaper, I got it of some website along with similar ones and they are great colors, great illustrations and they are so nice for a background. It reminds me of a song in the 80s by KLF which start with "All Aboard, All Aboard Wooho". KLF was a great band who got us "Justified and Ancient".

The weather has surely started to get better and very fast. It was the right time for the beach today with lovely blue skies coming back again. Spent it at Kempinski with friends. I hope the blue skies dominate for a while and hope it gets cold soon so we can start the long awaited bird watching experience.

Qaulity.net, What are they upto those days. I mean their speed has become so lousy that a 512 line can't keep me connected to Xbox live. Its a fact, their speed has dropped so badly. I mean they shoud call it "What??? Quality.net". currently, what lacks in their services is quality. It was so bad tonight, I didnt even get a decent connection till 1:00 am. Reach a high level of frustration at 9:30 and went out for dinner at chilis to avoid the Turtle beach connection they are providing.

I am back to normal, that is my M-PMS (Male PMS) is over. I have to admit, I hate Hard Rock Cafe Kuwait. The food and the music is the lousiest after touring at least 15 other HRCs. But I have to admit again that its the best place to get music on a week day. The DJ is not there and they play those lovely default self running tunes. Damn it was good. Led Zeppelin, Korn, Linkin Park, Aerosmith, Queen, David Bowie and GunsnRoses. The food was lousy as usual.
But the Music sure Rocks.

Bloggers meeting again. last thursday was at entertainment ciy. First time to the place. The leader knew it well and she kept the herd together while we tried almost every single game, even the boring sinbad. I tried 3 out of maybe 17 that the others did. The roller coaster is a must for the faint hearted. But at 2 KD for 30 seconds, It's good for a single ride.

Turns out that the 5D is real. This morning Canon officially announced that the world’s lightest and smallest full-frame digital SLR (the full-frame thing is a very big deal for anyone who is serious about digital photography), the new 12.8 megapixel Canon 5D. Should retail for under $3,300 when it hits stores later this year. With the X360 and the 5D, there goes November's salary. Nibaq I think will soon follow the train. Here is the link

Went for dinner at peppes after work tonight. it was nice and had lots of Windows (my kinda place). The food was also nice and their promotion runs as get a large when you order a medium. The place was spacious enough, good smell, good reception, good prices, good seating and good food. The price was medium and I would go there again.
PS: they have a parking spot for like 500 cars. That is such a rare thing in kuwait.

Going to the sea and spending a full day away from land, made me realize onething which was totally new to me. Never even thought of it.
The temperature at Qobbar island during mid day was like close to 34 degrees and it was a cool breeze and under the tent of the boat it was easy to stay a full day without an AC and without getting annoyed. Leaving after sunset and approaching land, you can feel the heat increase like you are coming into an oven. Why don't we all move to Qobbar????

This software infects your msn messenger and it doesnt work. It starts sending messeges to all of your contacts and its like a stupid harmless virus. It also bypasses your popup blocker and start giving you popup ads whenever you start the internet. Uninstalling it doesnt remove it. Follow the instructions from this link to remove it.

We went to Edo tonight for dinner, japo place in Al Shaab, Kuwait. The food was ok, nothing special and i felt its a bit not fresh. presentation, service and the interior was great though.
The people we went with were mostly bloggers I never met before appart from nibaq, rampampered, patch and my misundazstood. I enjoyed their company and it was nice to see people away from the keyboard for a while. The shot is of the sushi bar they have and Nibaq, ready to expose their weaknesses in supplying his demand for something out of this place.

So I took off today and went with my friends fishing. What a day, it started at 8:30 where I was sick and called to cancell my trip. Things got better by 10:30 and I decided to join them and went to Fahaheel beach club or something. We left with a mild sea and went to Qobbar island and we stayed around it. I was too sick to start fishing and everyone was catching fish except me, lying on the deck and enjoying the sun and the sleepy mood I was in. After lunch I got myself ready to fish and took corner and started throwing the line. I verbally threw my line like 50 times without even a fish hissing near me. Everyone started to make fun of my fishing and they were saying that I am like the owner of a restuarent, feeding the fish for free so they can come again. At 4:00 i decided to try something new. I mixed the squid and shrimp baits to make it kabab style bait. And there you go, my customers turned out to like Kababji style baits. I started by fishing the biggest She3ry of the day. Then some cat fish and 1 hour later, something big hooked in my line that almost cut my fingers. It was too tough, 5 minutes of wrestling at the depth of 50 feet and it snapped the line from the hook, everyone said its a big barracuda as it cut the line from the hook with its teeth. Three more cat fish and another big catsh, I spent another 5 to minutes to get it out but again it cut the line, I started feeling bad then . We moved to a new spot and another big pull and I started to take it out. It was too tough for me to handle and my friend who is a kuwaiti and used to those fish too the line and started playing along with the fish till we got it out. and there you go, catch of the day, a Dil3a, thats what they told me the name is and its 15 lovely pounds ready for my lunch tomorrow :)

What a day, been to The Palms and had a shy tan with the misses, rampurple was there and then back home, dinner, a lot of sushi, and then watched a movie.
First I wanna say, (((((The Island))))) is the best movie you can hope to watch this summer, at least for my taste, its the best ever. The acting was good, the cast was also good, The Director and the story were a massive hit.

There is this pub in beirut called hall in the wall, well, at least it was there 2 years ago, anyway, it was a great idea and its kinda open to the pubs next door and has a lota entry points, I will go there this sunday and refresh my memory with some shots from it. Well I was supposed to be in Dubai taking photos like this, but instead I am back to Kuwait. Had problems with my resident visa of the UAE and I was denied access to Dubai and it needs 10 days to sort this issue, so I slept overnight in the airport and got the first plane back to Kuwait in the morning.
What a vacation!!!!
More Bad luck, my car broke down and the 24 hour assistance from KFH, don't work in the weekend. Ammazing. Its called "24/7 - weekend"

Up up and away, I got my ticket for my vacation in Dubai. I love Emirates Airlines. I used my skywards miles and paid 17 KD and got a ticket for Dubai. Yep Fun time has just started and it cost me 17 KD.

Had a farewell tonight for a colleague, Mohammad Helmy, leaving us to Canada. We had it at Villa Fayrouz, the famous Lebanese restaurent in al Shaab area in kuwait. It was great food as usuall, I smell like an ashtray after it as usual. I hate cigarettes. I love the low light inside this place but it needs a tripod to capture the real magic of those lanterns. Hellraiser was there with his camera, the mediocre Olympus, and I have nasty expectations about his blog for tonight.

For anyone who has been to Salhiya Complex in Kuwait, you will notice that the bottom of the balconies is a chess board. Its very similar to the Escher Paintings like the relativity. A lounge on top and a chess board on the bottom. I don't know if it was intentional by the architect. But still its great.

So finally, after 7 years of marriage, my wife's wish came true. We have showtime in the bedroom. Thanks to mark and Dynavision, I installed this wifi extender which allows you to watch Showtime or any other bouquet in multiple rooms. It took 5 minutes to install and configure. No cables at all and its also light and easy to hide. Its not so cheap at 25KD but compared to installing another reciever, its surely worth it.

I took this shot at the airport, could not resist the colors and the reflections. The cones are meant to block passangers from passing the trollies down the escalators. It also blocked an old couple, the old lady was pushing her husband on a wheel chair, she tried to pass through them for 10 minutes then gave up and called security.

I am officialy 30. My wife made her best to made me feel like its my birthday. She took me out after 6:00 to Marina Mall and we did those pottery stuff, I made her a vase and she did me a pen holder cup. We got home and there they were, most of my crazy and not so crazy friends. It was great, she made sure I have the disco lights and the fog machine as well as an assorment of balloons. Cake, sandwitches and the rest of the woooha. All of my friends got me gifts and it was something memorable as some of them got straight from the airport to me house. Some of them stayed for more than 1 hour and it was a miracle in mark's case. I got an Atari :) the last time i got one was 1984. I got a ferrari swiss knife, I got so many other stuff. For those who read the blog and came, Thank you Guys and Girls. For those who didn't know, well next time give your phone numbers to my wife as it was a surprise party. For those who couldn't make it, you got saved from the gift.

Last Day of MGB ends with a party for EMEA (Europe Middle East & Africa). We had a quiz show with questions relative to your business. It was a nice shout for 2 hours as we tried to guide our players on stage. In the end MEA our region won, it was just a trophy but its good as we beat the UK, France, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Germany and Northern Europe. The photo is of the stage during the quiz show.
After the show we went to "Six Flags" over atlanta, the Rollecoasters. The place was booked by Microsoft and all rides and games were free. I did the 2 scariest but the heat was unbearable and had to run back to the hotel and enjoy and nice shower followed by a nice meal in bed.

Third day of MGB. I passed by the Centennial park to catch back some memories from last year. I saw those kids trying to kill the heat and himidity in their own way. it was lovely to see kids in swimsuits killing the hot weather under the sprinklers.
